Job Purpose:
The Coordinator of Native Student Engagement and Recruitment will support Native students preparing for college, current GU Native students, and GU Native alumni; support the development and implementation of programming relevant to the work of the Office of Tribal Relations; and collaborate with the Office of Admission on strategic Native student recruitment initiatives.
Essential Functions:
- 45% - Tribal Relations program support and delivery:
- Support development of resources and presentations for the Gonzaga community to greater understand the work of the Office of Tribal Relations within the Office of Mission Integration at Gonzaga.
- Provide support for initiatives and programming provided through or in partnership with the Office of Tribal Relations.
- 30% - Native student accompaniment:
- Serve as a liaison between home, school, and community.
- Develop strategies to promote and build a Native student community.
- Collaborate with Gonzaga University and Spokane community partners to plan and provide workshops for Native students regarding financial aid, scholarship, and internship opportunities, health and wellness, etc., based on students’ interests, needs and best practices.
- 20% - Native student recruitment:
- Collaborate with the GU Office of Admission to coordinate campus visits for prospective Native students, Native Student Preview Days, and traveling to and representing Gonzaga at college fairs in tribal communities and Native conferences.
- Collaborate with relevant programs as needed to support various stages of the Native student journey including recruitment, application, acceptance, pre-orientation, orientation, matriculation, and graduation.
- Additional Duties as Assigned by the Department
Educational Requirement:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
Years of Related Experience Requirement:
- 1 year
- In lieu of the educational qualifications, candidates may qualify with equivalent professional experience at a ratio of one year of experience for each year of required education.
Certifications and/or Licensures:
- Current Drivers License with good driving record

- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word

Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to work with Native students and their families, tribal communities, and tribal programs, such as Tribal Education Departments
- Ability to work with diverse faculty, staff, and students
- Preference for candidates who are tribally enrolled
- 1-3 years of experience working with American Indian/Alaskan Native students for college and career readiness
- Previous experience working in a higher education environment preferred.

The budgeted salary range that the University reasonably expects to offer for this position: $25 Hr
Pay Range:
Minimum Salary (Non-Exempt): $23.50
Midpoint Salary (Non-Exempt): $29.37
Maximum Salary (Non-Exempt): $35.25
