Job Purpose:

The Department of Psychology at Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA invites applicants for a half-time lecturer position (non-tenure-track) beginning Fall 2025. We wish to welcome a psychologist who is committed to teaching excellence and gaining experience teaching at a primarily undergraduate-focused institution. Candidates must demonstrate teaching excellence and a commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment. Teaching responsibilities will include two psychology courses in General Psychology (PSYC 101), Research Methods (PSYC 206), or an upper-division elective in the faculty member’s area of expertise, in fall and spring semesters for Gonzaga’s undergraduate Psychology program. Academic citizenship, advising, and professional development activities will not be expected. In addition to quality teaching, it is expected that the Lecturer will maintain standards of professionalism as outlined in the Gonzaga Faculty Handbook.

Essential Functions:

  • A teaching load equivalent to 12-credits per academic year (i.e. 2-courses per semester) in general psychology, research methods, and applicant's area of expertise. - (Essential)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Psychology by July 15, 2025
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness, including the ability to effectively respond to the academic needs of learners from diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching as the undergraduate level at a liberal arts institution
  • Demonstrated ability to connect course content to ongoing social justice issues

In-Office Presence - Ability to work on-site in typical office setting and participate in in-person meetings with colleagues: 5 days/week

Standing/Sitting - Ability to remain in a stationary position for a prolonged period: Daily (>75% of time)

Lifting/Carrying - Ability to move or transport objects up to a specified weight: Rarely (1%-49% of time)
