Summary:
An entry-level position that requires the ability to work with students individually and in groups, assisting with instructional or learning tasks. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of subject areas such as reading, math, language development, social studies, art, ethnic studies, music, and PE.
Duties:
- Works directly with students in assigned subject areas.
- Assists students by interpreting classroom assignments.
- Sets up work areas and prepares materials for class use.
- Reads to students and listens to students read.
- Attends and participates in planning and evaluating sessions.
- Drills students in assigned subject matter.
- Administers and scores tests.
- May supervise students at lunch, on playground, and field trips.
Requirements:
- Education equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.
- Certificate of Competency for Instructional Assistants and Aides.
- Knowledge of subject areas assigned, district policies, procedures, regulations, and resources.
