SEQUENCE TO CONTROLS SPECIALIST

Purpose of Position:

The Sequence to Controls Specialist develops, coordinates, and supports completion of customer (internal and external) Controls Line-up documentation requirements. Follows project status from beginning to completion to ensure deliverables are created to customer specifications. Works in full cooperation with engineering, project management, supply chain, manufacturing, integration, site management, and customer project and plant teams.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Sequence to Controls Responsibilities:

• Review statement of work and coordinate with mechanical design leader and project manager for task priorities.
• Create and maintain the mechanical to controls line up documentation (sometimes referred to as RWD – Request for wiring diagrams.)
• Coordinate with leader and designers to gather preliminary station sequences.
• Create and maintain individual sequence documents from the preliminary line-ups for each tool/station.
• Switch symbols and quantities at each step must be documented
• Create and maintain Cylinder and Switch Lineup for each tool/station.
• Identify product in fixture position (operator View)
• Show/Label all cylinders (Home Position)
• Show Label all switches (Part Present, Cylinder position sensors, etc.)
• Create and maintain Proximity Switch Designation sheet for each tool/station.
• Identify all switches and all fields
• List all light screens and related cables
• Create and maintain Cylinder Transformer Chart for each station/tool required.
• Identify all pertinent information from Cylinders, Clamps, Grippers, Weld Guns, Pierce Systems, Motors, Conveyors, Vacuum, Nut Runners, Mastic/Sealer, Tool changers, Vision systems, etc.
• Create and maintain Gun Transformer and spot layout sheet for each tool/station required.
• Identify all product in fixture position (Operator view)
• Callout all spots for fixture
• Show and label all guns, transformers & Timers
• Show weld schedule
• Create and maintain locator information sheet for each tool/station required.
• Identify all product in fixture position (Operator view)
• Callout 4-way/ 2-way pins
• Callout & note all clamps / rests
• Coordinate with Ergo and Safety Specialist to review operators have required time to safely complete the planned tasks using industry standard documented times.
• Create and Maintain Master Sequence documentation
• Coordinate with design leader and throughput supplier to ensure final system meets SOW requirements.
• Collaborates with system layout, mechanical design, controls design, customer, plant, vendors, project management to identify and ensure alignment with operator safety concerns.

• Project Tracking: Communicates with assigned team leaders on their current projects and tasks on a regular basis.
• Quality: Is aware if Quality Performance Metrics, and actively supports continuous improvement.
• Relationship Management: Develops and maintains open relationships with Project Managers, Team Leaders, peers, other Gonzalez employees, vendors and customer/plant safety representatives.
• Improvement Initiatives: Suggest ergo and motion activity improvements for ease of use, accuracy, and efficiency.
• Task Forecasting: understanding of hours remaining to complete tasks assigned and keep leader/manager informed of complications/changes to timing.
• Project Control: Ensures compliance with customer specifications and standards (corporate and plant.)
• Record Keeping: Maintain project records, including checklists, drawings, project documentation, signoffs, etc.
• Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

• Possesses a strong mechanical aptitude and background in assembly tooling / automation equipment - Ford, FCA, GM and other OEM/Tier 1 suppliers
• Solid knowledge of common industry standards (safety, mechanical, controls, etc.)
• Ability to read prints – Line Layouts and design drawings.
• Proficient with Windows, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) including ability to open and review design documents with associated application software (FIDES, NX, Catia, AutoCAD, etc.)
• Ability to work with and navigate computer filing systems, including the ability to stay organized, archive records, etc.
• Possesses and demonstrates strong organizational skills

Qualified candidates possess:

• Education: Associate degree or equivalent preferred.
• Experience: 5 years of work-related skill and experience.

Physical requirements (to include but not limited to):

• Ability to sit and move around when required.
• Ability to view, crouch, lean, bend, grip, etc. to inspect and diagnose controls content in manufacturing areas.
• Ability to lift light loads (under 25 lbs.)
• Ability to wear PPE (when necessary)

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

• May be required to travel to manufacturing facilities, supplier, and customer sites for design reviews or to assist in the field check, installation, start-up, and final machine acceptance.

REQUIRED LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:

• None, but related certifications are encouraged/considered (Simulation Software, CAD Systems, Office programs, Safety, etc.)
