L.J. Gonzer Associates is looking for individuals to join our pool of qualified candidates for potential assignment as a Network Engineer. You'll support upgrades of existing network architecture, maintenance of computer networks, hardware, software, and other related systems, facilitate remote user access to system resources, support experimental requirements, ensure timely delivery of critical data, and replace faulty network hardware components when necessary.
Provide network engineering support for infrastructure and customer facing applications :
Support projects and initiatives with network engineering requirements. These may include, but are not limited to experiments, construction projects, hardware / software upgrades, and new cloud and on-premise software / applications.
Support outages and failures as needed.
Installation of cabling and equipment for new connectivity requirements and hardware upgrades.
De-installation and clean-up of equipment and cabling no longer in production.
Support for remote user access to computer resources.
Troubleshoot wired and wireless network issues with available tools (NAC, Wireshark traces, etc). Areas of support include :
Router / switch command line
Wireless controllers
Remote access VPN
Review and respond to incoming trouble tickets.
Assume overall responsibility for remote access VPN systems :
Provide second level support for remote access VPN user issues; serve as escalation point for the help desk.
Work with cyber team to implement changes to features and functionality as needed.
Provide primary network support for voice over IP (VOIP) telecommunications systems :
Respond to VoIP phone and server outages.
Troubleshoot user phone issues on the network. Verify connectivity, server to phone communications, including the use of Wireshark.
Assist the telecom engineer in support of new projects and initiatives.
Update internal and external documentation :
Project documentation for experiments and infrastructure initiatives.
Network diagrams and procedures.
Spreadsheets.
Databases.

Job Requirements
Details :
A bachelor's degree in a computer related field, such as programming, computer science, engineering, or other related degree.
At least 5 years of experience working within a Network Engineer role or related IT support role.
CCNA or equivalent knowledge required.
Must have demonstrable, hands-on prior network engineering experience in the field, either working with IT systems or in network administration.
Experience in wireless standards, protocols, and equipment as well as specialized wireless technologies, including the use of Wi-Fi test / heat mapping equipment.
Demonstrable experience with basic routing / switching technologies, wireless, VoIP, VPN, SNMP management, and data mirroring required.
Background with Linux scripting, IT automation tools, DNS / DHCP management (Infoblox), and experience with migration to IPv6 is a plus.
Must be able to simultaneously work on and manage multiple projects.
