What are the responsibilities and job description for the Activities Director position at Good Day Care?
We are currently seeking a part-time Activity Director to join our team for one or two days a week (In the Morning from 9am to 2pm), with the potential for a full-time position in the future.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and coordinate a variety of activities and events for members.
- Develop and implement programs that promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
- Provide dementia care and memory care activities to support members with cognitive impairments.
- Collaborate with other staff members to create a stimulating and engaging environment
- Manage the activity schedule and ensure activities are conducted in a timely manner.
- Assess residents' needs and interests to tailor activities to their preferences.
- Provide counseling on aging issues and offer support to members and their families.
- Coordinate recreational therapy sessions to enhance members' quality of life.
- Maintain accurate documentation of members participation in activities.
Requirements:
-Certification in accordance with regulatory agencies governing the center by the National Certification Council of Activity Professionals (ADC) or the National Council of Therapeutic Recreation Certification (CTRS)
- Previous experience in caregiving, preferably in a nursing home or senior care setting.
- Knowledge of dementia care techniques and memory care programs.
- Strong organizational skills to effectively manage activity schedules.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with residents, families, and staff members.
- Ability to plan and execute events that cater to the diverse needs and interests of residents.
- Understanding of social work principles and practices related to senior care.
- Flexibility to adapt activities based on individual resident capabilities and preferences.
- Compassionate nature with a genuine interest in improving the lives of seniors.
