What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Handler position at Good Day Farm?
The Material Handler will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient handling, movement, and storage of cannabis-related materials and products. The ideal candidate should have a strong commitment to safety, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a regulated and fast-paced industry.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Safely and skillfully operate material handling equipment, such as forklifts, hand trucks, and carts, within the cannabis facility.
- Handle the movement, storage, and organization of cannabis product, and related supplies, following strict compliance with regulatory guidelines.
- Collaborate with cultivation and manufacturing teams to accurately record inventory transactions and ensure product traceability.
- Receive and inspect incoming cannabis materials, verifying quantities and quality against accompanying documentation.
- Prepare cannabis products for packaging by following established procedures for weighing, labeling, and documentation.
- Load and unload products onto packaging lines and shelves, maintaining a clean and orderly workspace throughout the process.
- Assist in the packaging process, including filling containers, applying labels, and assembling packaging materials.
- Keep accurate records of inventory levels and report any discrepancies or issues to supervisors.
- Adhere to strict sanitation and hygiene practices to prevent contamination of cannabis products.
- Follow proper handling and disposal procedures for hazardous or waste materials as per regulatory requirements.
- Participate in regular inventory audits and cycle counts to ensure accurate stock levels.
- Collaborate with team members to meet production goals and deadlines.
- Maintain a safe working environment by following safety protocols and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by providing feedback on process enhancements and potential efficiencies.
- Must be able to obtain a state medical marijuana badge and pass a background check
- Must be able to communicate with GDF Team effectively and professionally.
- Must perform under high pressure situations.
