About the Role:
The Full Charge Bookkeeper is responsible for managing all aspects of financial recordkeeping and reporting for Good Foods Co-Op. This position ensures the accuracy of financial transactions, maintains compliance with applicable regulations, and supports the cooperative’s financial health. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and capable of handling all bookkeeping responsibilities independently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and manage the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all financial transactions.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, including vendor payments and customer invoicing.
- Reconcile bank statements, credit card transactions, and other financial accounts on a regular basis.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for management and the board of directors.
- Perform financial reporting and reconciliations for month-end close, ensuring accurate financial data and timely reporting.
- Manage payroll processing, ensuring compliance with tax regulations and timely employee payments.
- File and pay sales tax, payroll taxes, and other required regulatory filings.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning for the cooperative.
- Work closely with external accountants for audits, tax preparation, and year-end reporting.
- Ensure compliance with financial policies, GAAP, and applicable local, state, and federal laws.
- Support the General Manager and Board of Directors with financial analysis and reports as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- 3 years of experience in full-charge bookkeeping or accounting, preferably in a retail or cooperative environment.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks, Sage Intacct or other accounting software.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, payroll processing, and tax compliance.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
- Experience in the Retail Trade industry.
- Knowledge of inventory management and cost accounting.
- Experience with financial analysis and forecasting.
- Ability to effectively communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
