Good Foods Co-op is seeking a high energy, customer-service driven employee to fill our full-time Meat & Cheese Clerk position. The candidate is required to work in a fast pace work environment and must have a high level of organization, must be able to work weekends.
About the Role:
The Meat Clerk is responsible for ensuring that the Meat and Cheese Department is properly stocked with products and preparing meat and cheese offerings for customers. The Meat Clerk will monitor inventory turns and will stock the product out on the shelves utilizing the First in First Out (FIFO) method, your attention to detail will be crucial in ensuring that all products are properly labeled and priced. The Meat Clerk will be expected to maintain a clean and organized department, while providing excellent customer service and demonstrating a strong knowledge of natural food products, especially meat products
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1 years of experience in a retail or food service environment
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Excellent customer service skills
- Strong attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with meat and cheese products
- Butchery experience preferred
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation guidelines
- High level of interest in natural and organic foods. High level of interest in the cooperative business structure and in the long-term sustainability of locally owned, independent businesses preferred.
- Experience with inventory management
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Responsibilities:
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting and assisting customers with their meat and cheese selections
- Maintain a clean and organized department, including proper storage and rotation of products
- Ensure all products are properly labeled and priced
- Monitor inventory levels and stock/package as needed to maintain adequate stock levels
- Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Receive orders, unload trucks and pallets, check deliveries, and appropriately file invoices
