Position Description
Good Friends of The First State is a Delaware-based non-profit that raises funds to support women and girls in the state. We provide one-time, limited assistance funds to give financial stability to those in a crisis situation. The group is active on social media and is seeking an unpaid intern to manage the programs. The group is on Instagram @goodfriends_1ststate and on Facebook.
As the Social Media Intern, you will be responsible for creating, executing, and managing engaging content across social media platforms. The role involves aligning external communications with the non-profit’s brand image and strategic goals of enhancing the online presence and fostering community interactions. This position offers practical experience that deepens understanding of real-world marketing strategies and media trends, complementing an education in marketing or communications.
The time commitment is approximately 3-4 hours per month (usually about one hour/week).
Position Responsibilities
· Maintain content calendar in Google Drive for META properties, Instagram and Facebook, following best practices for developing engaging and brand safe content.
· Ideate posts to promote audience growth and engagement strategies.
· Author post text with direction from team, to align with content calendar.
· Design and create social post content in Canva, following brand standards.
· Upload and schedule posts following content calendar.
· Communicate with stakeholders, including Founder, Marketing Director, and other Board members.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills
· 1-2 years of experience with social media with a history of creating content on META properties and experience creating and optimizing various post types.
· Experience with Canva platform or a similar graphics tool for manipulating images, removing backgrounds, enhancing photos, etc.
· Excellent written communications, especially for social media platforms.
· Sense of design and ability to follow brand standards for visuals.
· Strong organizational skills, discipline to create a content calendar, follow deadlines, and manage stakeholder expectations.
