Landscape Construction Estimator Job Description
Position Summary
The Landscape Construction Estimator works directly with the PLM president working to translate extensive
multiyear construction contracts and budgets into operational project details ready for project execution by
the production team. The role interfaces with multiple company functions including sales, finance, and operations to ensure the
quality, on time and budget execution of Construction projects. Understanding and experience with project
estimation and bidding is critical. The ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment and navigate
ambiguity is required. A sense of humor is a must!
Essential Functions
- Promote strong relationships with the customer community based upon clear and frequent
communication practices, mutual trust, and the ability to meet customer needs. Develop
relationship-building opportunities for the customer and the company.
Perform accurate take-offs and estimates, each unique to the project.Work with the owner, vendors, and sub-contractors while multitasking efficiently.Work independently, in outdoor conditions when necessary, while taking directions from the Directorof Construction & the Owner.
Communicate verbally and in writing with clients, contractors, supervisors, and other PLM staff.Make presentations discussing the project, including charts, scaled drawings, and digital presentations.Propose changes and value engineering during plan reviews for better project outcomes.Maintain records of changes to the plan scope, correspondence, and reports.Maintain job costs within guidelines and help meet profitability goals.Perform site analyses for site conditions like access, plant, soil, lighting, grading, drainage, and irrigation.Work closely with administrative support for timely and accurate contract administration.Areas of Responsibility
Stay updated with “Best Practices” to respond to market opportunities and competitor strategies.Build and maintain good working relationships and effective communication with team members.Foster positive relationships with employees, management, vendors, and customers.Adhere to company policies and actively participate in meetings as required.Qualifications
3-5 years of experience in landscape design, construction / maintenance estimating, sales, installation, or management.High school diploma (GED) required. A Landscape Design / Architectural degree is preferred.Knowledge of PNW plant identification, disease / pest management, and pruning techniques.Strong organizational, attention to detail, and prioritization skills.Valid WA state driver’s license and ability to pass a background check.Proficient in Office 365, Word, Excel, and Outlook; bilingual (Spanish / English) is a plus.Physical Requirements
Sedentary work with some filing and occasional lifting (up to 50 pounds).Frequent standing, walking, and sitting.Ability to work extended periods at a computer and distinguish colors.
Salary : $70,000 - $75,000
