Garden Center - Seed Building/Indoor Plant Associate

Garden Center Associate $15.00 – 16.00/hour

Full Time or Part Time– Weekends are required.

This position works directly with our houseplant, pack seed, and pottery departments. We are seeking a candidate with customer service experience and a love for plants.

Daily Tasks

• Customer service, answering questions, sales transactions, etc…
• Friendly greeting and eye contact with every customer as they enter or pass you in the nursery. Ensure that they are promptly helped.
• Ready to assist customers in bringing large items to the register; asking for help with carry outs when needed.
• Restocking from back stock and ensuring inventory is on display.
• Organizing, displaying, and merchandising inventory.
• Plant watering and coordinating plant care with co-workers.
• Inspection of work area daily for weeds, insects, diseases, damage, moisture problems, pruning needs, signage, and overall quality control.
• Daily cleaning and stocking of front-end area
• Making boxes and cutting bags for your register.
• Picking up papers, signs, tags, twine, leaves, etc... off the ground.
• Any other assigned tasks as directed by management .

Required

• Must be able to lift at least 30 pounds repeatedly.
• Friendly, polite, and courteous with customers and fellow employees. No offensive language.
• Prepared to work outdoors (periodically) in a variety of weather conditions.
• Responsible for checking schedules and showing up promptly for your shifts.
• Able to perform shared cleaning tasks such as sanitizing bathrooms and sweeping.
• General organization and ability to prioritize tasks.
• Basic knowledge of gardening and plants, with the ability to care for indoor plants.

Dress Code: Dress appropriately for the weather

• Clean, good condition T-shirt or polo shirt.
• Clean, good condition jeans, pants, or shorts.
• Slip resistant, durable, & comfortable outdoor shoes or sandals; no flip flops.
• Sweatshirt and/or rain jacket with a hood. Outdoor work is periodically required.
