What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plant Care-Taker and Grower (Garden Center) position at GOOD NEWS GARDENING?
This position is responsible for the care and maintenance of all plants in our Garden Center.
Weekends are required.
Duties include, (but not limited to):
- Seeding, transplanting, and fertilizing plants
- Watering and maintaining the general health of all plants throughout the nursery
- Keeping plants organized appropriately
- Communicating efficiently with supervisors and co-workers
- Performing any other tasks as directed by management
Required
- Able to lift up to 30 pounds, regularly
- Enjoy a fast pace of work, while being efficient
- Enjoy hard work and being outside in all weather conditions (hot sun, wind, rain, snow).
- Can easily work alone or with a team, and switch tasks as needed
- Consistently inspect department, for weeds, insects, diseases, damage, moisture problems, pruning needs, signage, quality control, etc…
- Able to work weekends and holidays
- Friendly greeting with customers
- Be ready to help direct customers and answer basic questions
Dress appropriately for the weather as this is an outdoor working position. Clean good condition t-shirt or polo shirt with jeans, pants, shorts. Work boots/shoes. No cut-offs. Layers for working outdoors including work boots, hooded rain jacket, warmer clothing on colder days with a possibility of needing a change of clothing on wet days. Sun protection including hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, etc...

Pay: $14.75 - $16.00 per hour
