Our books are carefully curated to highlight local history, culture, and compelling stories, catering to the discerning traveler.

We are seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Account Manager to oversee and expand Wildsam's wholesale accounts across the United States and manage our direct-to-consumer (DTC) sales channels. This role will specifically focus on Wildsam Field Guides. The position is essential in growing our brand presence and revenue, ensuring smooth operations across multiple sales channels, and nurturing relationships with retailers, distributors, and customers.

The ideal candidate will have a relevant understanding of B2B and DTC sales, and a passion for storytelling and travel.

The Austin office is 1224 E 12th St, STE 312, Austin, TX 78702.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Wholesale Account Management

  • Develop & Maintain Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with existing wholesale accounts, including independent bookstores, outdoors shops, specialty gift, across the United States. 

  • Sales Growth: Identify and pursue new wholesale account opportunities nationwide across retail sectors, developing strategic sales funnel process and success metrics.

  • Order Management: Oversee the order process via our fulfillment partner, ensuring timely shipments, inventory management, and customer satisfaction.

  • Account Reporting: Track sales performance and provide regular reporting on account performance, including key metrics such as sales trends, order frequency, inventory levels, and new account acquisition.

  • Market Expansion: Collaborate with the sales team to develop and execute strategies for geographic and demographic market expansion, including entering new retail verticals.

2. Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) Sales Management

  • E-Commerce Strategy: Oversee Wildsam's DTC channel, specifically our website, email channels, and brand partner strategies. Increase online sales, improve conversion rates, and optimize customer experiences.

  • Marketing Collaboration: Work closely with the marketing team to design and implement promotions, campaigns, and seasonal offerings that drive online sales and customer engagement.

  • Sales Forecasting & Reporting: Forecast monthly and annual sales targets for the DTC channel and provide regular reports on performance.

3. Operational Efficiency

  • Inventory & Fulfillment Coordination: Coordinate with logistics and inventory teams to ensure smooth order fulfillment for both wholesale and DTC channels, managing stock levels, reordering, and ensuring the timely delivery of orders.

  • Process Improvement: Identify areas for operational improvement in order management, account management, and customer service to enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction. Coordinate with logistics and inventory teams to ensure smooth order fulfillment for both wholesale and DTC channels.

4. Strategic Planning & Collaboration

  • Trend Monitoring: Stay up to date on market trends, consumer preferences, and competitor activities in both the wholesale and DTC space to inform strategic decisions.

  • Sales Target Achievement: Drive the achievement of sales targets across both wholesale and DTC channels, providing ongoing analysis and insights to ensure sustainable growth.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in business management, sales, or account management within industry/product sector that directly relates to Wildsam guidebooks.

  • Strong knowledge of wholesale distribution channels, retail partnerships, and e-commerce platforms.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, with an ability to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders.

  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to track and analyze sales performance and make data-driven decisions.

  • Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple accounts and tasks simultaneously.

  • Experience working with direct-to-consumer sales channels and digital marketing.

  • Self-starter with a high degree of initiative and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

  • Passion for travel, storytelling, and the Wildsam brand.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience in the publishing, apparel, gear or CPG industry, particularly during stage of growth, where independent wholesale channel and DTC channel are both essential. 

  • Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) systems and sales tracking tools.

  • Ability to bring ingenuity and scrappiness to address challenges and improve processes. 

Compensation: base of $70K with a commission potential

Pay Range:

$56,900.00-$85,400.00 Annual
