The Organization
Good Samaritan Family Resource Center (GSFRC) is an innovative multi-service non-profit agency located in San Francisco’s Mission District. Its mission is to help immigrant families access needed services, develop self-sufficiency, and participate fully as members of the community. Our staff is a diverse and talented team willing to take different and unique approaches to help children, youth and families thrive and succeed.
Position Summary
The primary purpose of the Temporary Van Driver is to transport student participants and staff: from various schools to the Vision Academy afterschool program, on field trips and for occasional special events. There are regular daily schedules and routes to perform routine after-school pick-ups and drop offs. They drive a passenger van. The temporary Van Diver position may also be asked to perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Program Manager.
Specific Responsibilities
- Be extremely responsible and timely
- Maintain a predetermined work schedule, and be on time for your shifts
- Provide consistent and reliable support to students, families, and your co-workers
- Pick up and drop off students at designated locations in a safe manner
- Follow a planned route according to a predetermined time schedule
- Help students get in and out of the van as needed
- Must always obey traffic laws and state and federal transit regulations
- Follow procedures to ensure passenger safety
- Keep Program Manager and school sites informed of possible delays
- Perform basic visual maintenance and safety checks (check the Van tires, lights, and oil)
- Maintain and complete Mileage logs and necessary documentation
- Keep the van clean and presentable
- Maintain a safe, hygienic, clean, fun and engaging environment while on duty
- Uphold and enforce all safety policies and procedures
- Other job-related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires a valid California Driver’s License and clean driving record and insurance
- Strong communicator
- Must be responsible and on-time for scheduled work shifts
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
Requirements
- Must clear full background check (Department of Justice, FBI, Child Abuse Index).
- Must have TB clearance.

Desired Qualifications
- Bilingual (Spanish and English)
- Experience working with African American and/or Latinx immigrant community populations
