Job Summary:
Codes and abstracts outpatient, or ES, or OBV, CDU, WC, or SDS, ENDO records, for the purpose of reimbursement, research and compliance with federal regulations utilizing ICD-10-CM and CPT 4 classification systems.
Essential Job Duties:
Identifies and codes outpatient, or ES, or OBV, CDU, WC, or SDS, ENDO records for the purpose of reimbursement, research, and compliance with federal regulations using ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 classification systems.
- Reviews all OP orders for Medical Necessity
- Performs data entry to complete abstract for billing and statistical data.
- Fills in for OP or ES, or OBV, CDU, WC, or SDS, Endo and Medical Necessity coders when necessary.
Secondary Job Duties That May be Reassigned:
- Completes other duties assigned by Director of Medical Records, Coding/Clinical Documentation Manager and Medical Record Supervisors
Job Specifications:
- Education: Requires RHIT, RHIA or CCS
- Experience: Prefer at least 5 years acute care coding experience. Previous experience working with 3m encoder desired.
