Position Summary
The Health Unit Coordinator is responsible for performing clerical duties, facilitating communication and contributing to a smooth functioning, well-equipped unit. The Health Unit Coordinator processes physician orders, maintains and organizes patients records, communicates requests, messages and information that assists the physicians, nurses and other personnel to give patient care. Assists with customer relations on the unit. Procures supplies and patient care items from other hospital departments as needed. Assists with transportation of patients as needed. Functions according to current hospital and Division of Nursing policies and procedures. Maintains a safe, clean and orderly environment in the nursing station. Performs additional duties as requested by the Manager/Director. Seeks out information to assist in patient care and unit needs.
Minimum Requirements
Prior Health Unit Coordinator experience preferred. Able to move about facility freely. Able to support supplies weighing 20 lbs. and able to respond to overhead pages and alarms as needed. Keyboard proficiency is required.

Education/Licenses/Certifications
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred
- Completion of an approved Health Unit Coordinator vocational training course
- Previous Patient Care experience (minimum of 1 year or currently enrolled in clinical education program)
- Equivalent clerical experience (minimum of 1 year) in a medical setting
Compensation Range:
AD - Min: $16.65-Max: $91.75
