Schedule: 24 Hours, Evenings, 3p-11p, Every Other Weekend, Part-Time, Benefit Eligible
Position Summary:
Provide technical assistance to the nursing staff and performing a variety of computer, clerical, scheduling and supply functions necessary for the operation of a 16-bed geriatric psychiatric care unit. Supports clinical staff with 15-min checks/continuous ligature rounds when possible
Responsibilities:
- Proficiently functions as a technologist in the following areas as deemed competent: Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis and Coagulation.
- Ensures QC is within appropriate limits for each test prior to reporting patient results.
- Confirms abnormal results prior to releasing and bring any "rare and improbable" test results to the attention of a Section Head or Lead.
- Processes specimens and logs requisitions as needed.
- Reviews daily specimen reports as appropriate.
- Assists in maintaining an adequate inventory of supplies.
- Troubleshoots problems (client, instrument, computer) as needed.
- Performs maintenance on instrumentation as needed.
- Records QC and maintains QC records on all assays performed.
Requirements:
- Education: High School Diploma.

Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year of clerical experience required.
- Computer skills required.
- Knowledge of medical terminology required.
- Working in an outpatient setting preferred.

Certification/Licensure:
- BLS Certification required by DMH
- Mandatory De-escalation Education within 30 days of hire
- Hardware/Software: Meditech
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
