Job Summary
The Nursing Assistant Trainee is an entry-level role designed to develop the skills and confidence of caregivers who provide personal care to clients. Under the supervision of a licensed nurse, the trainee works alongside a preceptor to deliver holistic client-centered care that promotes independence and client rights in a safe, caring, and efficient manner. The trainee will learn the skills and processes needed to provide care and assistance to clients, including assisting with basic health care needs, activities of daily living, and other personal care tasks as assigned.
Responsibilities
• Assist clients with bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, undressing, obtaining vital signs, providing psychosocial support, and delivering other personal care as assigned
• Assist clients with meals and snacks and provide water and nutritional supplements as appropriate
• Assist with housekeeping, laundry services, and other duties as assigned within non-certified nursing assistant role
• Communicate changes in client condition and care-related concerns to a licensed nurse
Requirements
• High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred but not required
• Minimum age of 16
• Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred
• Certification and registration with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry when applicable
• Dependent on facility and required responsibilities, this role may classify as a Sanford Category II Driver requiring a motor vehicle report and proof of valid driver's license
