Job Description
As a Nursing Assistant at the Good Samaritan Society, you will serve as a caregiver to residents during scheduled work periods in long-term care. Your responsibilities will include providing resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned residents under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). You will be responsible for knowing and delivering age-appropriate care related to the physical and psychological needs of the resident as per the care plan. Considered a member of the nursing team, you are expected to know and be held accountable for following infection prevention and control policies and Personal Protective Equipment use.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should have a high school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required. You must be at least 16 years old and possess prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care, which is preferred. Required Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing, or state certified CNA within four months of date into the position by being enrolled in a training program or in the process of obtaining certification through Endorsement is also mandatory. CNA training and certification are required and provided by the facility. Additionally, you are expected to satisfactorily complete yearly department-specific competency testing and maintain a record of continuing education credits for each year, with a minimum of 12 hours continuing education annually. When applicable, for applicable states, certified and registered with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry.
