Job Summary
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides professional nursing care for residents of all ages in a long-term care setting, working under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate knowledge of nursing principles and apply them to resident care in a relevant clinical setting.
- Exhibit competency in nursing practices and utilize appropriate age and population-specific standards related to the physical and psychosocial needs of residents as per care plans.
- Possess the ability to perform testing to evaluate data reflective of resident status and provide necessary care.
- Demonstrate problem-solving skills, recommend solutions, and respond effectively in emergent situations.
- Ensure the health, comfort, and safety of residents.
- Contribute to resident assessment and administer medications or treatments as ordered.
- Provide technical support to healthcare professionals as needed.
- Document resident interactions and outcomes related to resident care, medication, behavior, activity, and dietary.
Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program with a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.
- Associate degree in practical nursing is preferred.
- If the position requires IV therapy/management skills, graduation from a Board-approved AASPN program with IV therapy as part of the curriculum or completion of an IV Therapy course approved by the state Board of Nursing is required.
- Must have attended a pre-licensure nursing program with supervised clinical experience across the lifespan as part of the curriculum or have had a minimum of 400 hours of experience as LPN at another facility.
- Currently hold an unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with the state Nursing board and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges.
