Job Summary
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned residents under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). The CNA is responsible for delivering age-appropriate care related to the physical and psychological needs of the residents as per the care plan.
Responsibilities
The CNA assists residents with basic health care needs, including daily living activities such as bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing, and providing psychosocial support. The CNA also assists with transferring, repositioning, and walking using correct and appropriate transfer techniques and equipment, and provides range of motion and passive exercises.
Duties
- Assist residents with meals and snacks, provide water and supplements as needed
- Collect non-invasive body fluid specimens and gather vital signs
- Provide housekeeping and laundry services to assist residents with keeping living areas clean and operational
- Participate in departmental/organization committees and task forces as needed
Qualifications
A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required. Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care is preferred. Certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with the State Board of Nursing is required, along with completion of yearly department-specific competency testing and continuing education credits.
