About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled Healthcare Assistant to join our team at our long-term care facility in DeSmet. As a Healthcare Assistant, you will play a crucial role in delivering resident-centered care to our residents. Your primary responsibility will be to provide daily living assistance and nursing care to assigned residents under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN).
Your duties will include assisting with basic health care needs such as bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing, obtaining and recording vital signs, and providing psychosocial support to assigned residents. You will also be responsible for assisting with transferring, repositioning, and walking using correct and appropriate transfer techniques and equipment, and providing range of motion and passive exercises as needed.
In addition to your caregiving duties, you will be involved in tasks related to food preparation and dining, creating a positive experience for our residents. You will also aid providers and nursing staff members with procedures if needed, document resident interactions, and communicate changes in resident condition and care-related concerns/responses to the charge nurse.
To be considered for this role, you must have Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification, which can be obtained through training provided by our facility. Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care is preferred. A high school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) is preferred but not required. Satisfactory completion of yearly department specific competency testing and maintenance of continuing education credits are also requirements.
