Job Description
The Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as a caregiver to the resident during the scheduled work period in long-term care. The NA provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned residents under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). The NA is responsible for providing basic health care needs, including daily living activities such as bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing, obtaining and recording vital signs, and providing psychosocial support and other personal care to assigned residents.
The NA also assists residents with meals and snacks, provides water and supplements as appropriate, and creates a positive dining experience for the resident. In addition, the NA aids providers and nursing staff members with procedures, if needed, documents resident interactions as needed and the outcomes related to resident care, behavior, activity, and dietary, and communicates resident's changing condition and care-related concerns/responses to the charge nurse.
