Job Summary
The Certified Nursing Assistant serves as a caregiver to the resident during the scheduled work period in long term care. The position provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned residents under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). The role requires knowledge of and delivery of age-appropriate care related to the physical and psychological needs of the resident as per care plan.
Responsibilities:
- Provides assistance with basic health care needs, including daily living activities such as bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing, obtaining and recording vital signs, and providing psychosocial support and other personal care to assigned residents.
- Assists residents with meals and snacks, provides water and supplements as appropriate.
- Aids providers and nursing staff members with procedures, if needed.
- Documents resident interactions as needed and the outcomes related to resident care, behavior, activity, and dietary.
Requirements:
- High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred.
- Minimum age of 16.
- Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing, or state certified CNA within four months of date into the position by being enrolled in a training program or in the process of obtaining certification through Endorsement.
