On-Call Nurse
Named by the Boston Globe as one of the Top Places to Work in Massachusetts for the last three years, our community-based, mission-driven hospice and palliative care organization seeks a Registered Nurse to join our dedicated on-call team. The ideal candidate will take calls, triage patients’ symptoms over the phone and, when necessary, make home visits. This nurse will have strong assessment skills and be confident in symptom management. Reliable transportation is required as this is a travel position. Care is provided in patient’s private homes and residential facilities throughout Greater Boston and parts of Metrowest.
We offer a 3-4 nights/week from 1 am to 10 am. The days can be flexible and negotiable. Full-time is eligible for a $5000 sign-on bonus.
Job Responsibilities:
- Triage all calls that come in after hours.
- Provide symptom management to alleviate discomfort and stress in the family system.
- Make home visits to hospice patients.
Schedule and Weekly Hours:
3-4 nights/week from 1 am to 10 am. The days can be flexible and negotiable.
Education, Skills, and Qualifications:
- Licensed by the Commonwealth of MA as a Registered Nurse.
- At least 1 year of Hospice or Palliative experience preferred; or at least 2 years of oncology nursing.
- Demonstrate strong triage skills.
- Demonstrate an understanding of hospice philosophy and pain and symptom management.
- Demonstrate a willingness to visit patients at night if symptoms are not alleviated after first triage call.
- Ability to work within diverse social and economic situations without imposing own values.
- Demonstrate an understanding of team approach and communication.
- Contribute to a positive atmosphere and demonstrate positive interactions with patients/families and colleagues.

Pay Range:
$83,000-$97,000 range for a 40 hour equivalent role. Salary will be prorated based on a preferred schedule. This number reflects an average starting range for this position. Individual pay is determined through a variety of factors including experience, education, certifications, and skills, and can exceed the starting range.
