Definition of Position:
The audiology assistant will gain responsibility for providing assistance to the audiologist by providing direct and indirect patient care.
Responsibilities:
- Perform Checks on hearing devices, including cleaning, changing tubing and performing basic repairs and basic troubleshooting.

Provide in-person education and counsel patients on the use of hearing devices.
- Engage in Technology appointments to help patients with phone or app use (only related to hearing aids).
- Help prepare patients for newborn hearing screenings or auditory brain response tests as needed.
- Assist audiologist in pediatric appointments as needed.

Complete invoicing and paperwork for new and/ or repaired hearing aids.
- Bill patients for repairs, cleaning, or device purchases and maintain hearing device warranties.

Complete purchase orders for hearing aids and assemble hearing aids for fittings.
- Contact hearing aid manufacturers as needed.
- Assist the audiologist in ordering audiological supplies and hearing devices.

Perform other front office duties such as faxing, scanning, and labeling and processing incoming and outgoing orders.
- Answer telephone, retrieve voicemail messages, and call patients as necessary to follow up and/ or schedule appointments.
- With sufficient support, participate in public outreach and education including community events, health fairs, and senior living visits.
- Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education: High school diploma/ GED or higher.
Experience:
- Experience in customer service.
- One year of medical office experience is a plus but not required.
- Knowledge of hearing aids is a plus but not required.
- Spanish proficiency is preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements:
1) Perceive the nature of sound by ear.
2) Express or exchange ideas by means of spoken words.
3) Extend arms and hands in any direction.
4) Use of hands and fingers.
5) Stoop, kneel, crouch, lift to 25 lbs., sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
6) Be self-motivated, dependable, neatly groomed and well organized.
Working Conditions:
Inside environment protected from the weather, variable noise levels, occasionally subject to combative customers, subject to a rapid pace creating an unpredictable environment and subject to possible exposure to infection, contagious disease or hazardous materials.
