Definition of Position:
Manages delivery of health care service to accomplish diagnosis and treatment. Administers financial, physical, and human resources to provide medical services in radiologic sciences. Exercises professional judgment in performance of duties and maintains a demeanor complementary to medical ethics. Monitors departmental operations to assure compliance with governmental regulations and meet standards established by accrediting agencies.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
- Serves as official facility custodian of department records.
- Facilitates department’s quality assessment and improvement plan recognizing standards established by accrediting agencies.
- Prepares and monitors operations and capital expenditure budgets.
- Recommend and purchases capital equipment and physical plant improvements.
- Employs, evaluates, counsels, and terminates individuals respecting established personnel policies.
- Addresses and responses to concerns or grievances proffered by physicians, staff and physicians.
- Oversee the general management operations of daily practice assuring prudent delegation of duties and responsibilities.
- Maintains and may negotiate contracts to ensure optimal operation of equipment and facilities monitoring of third-party compliance.
- Reports on departmental progress, budget variances, productivity, objectives and operational issues.
- Recommends short and long range goals, develops objectives and framework for long range planning.
- Controls inventory, care for and purchase of supplies in Diagnostic Imaging.
- Monitors the status of equipment repairs and preventative maintenance, gathers data on equipment malfunction and associated down time, and documents its effects on patient care.
- Pursues appropriate continuing education.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Education:
- A.S. degree with additional management training/education or B.S. degree with emphasis on management.
- Graduate of accredited program in radiology or related field.
- Possesses post-secondary education in the practice of management and/or administrative skills.
Licenses/ Registrations:
- Possess and maintains the State of Oregon license or have the ability to attain State of Oregon licensure.
- Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or the equivalent.
Experience:
- Two or more years’ management experience.
- Preferred candidates will demonstrate proficiency in at least two diagnostic imaging modalities and possess a working knowledge of all imaging services offered within the department.
- Demonstrates a knowledge base and experience to successfully function within the position.
- Bilingual and/or English Spanish speaking preferred. Ability to work with culturally diverse population.
Physical Requirements:
Good general health. Must be able to bend, stoop, and reach. Frequent standing and/or walking.
Working Conditions:
Inside environment protected from the weather, variable noise levels, occasionally subject to combative customers or verbal altercations with co-workers, subject to a rapid pace creating an unpredictable environment and subject to possible exposure to infection, contagious disease or hazardous materials, and items of that nature.
