DEFINITION OF POSITION:
The primary purpose of this position is responsibility for the maintenance, testing and repair of electro-medical equipment, testing and repair of electrical circuits and any other technical equipment that requires any special knowledge, the documentation of those actions, the electrical safety program or as directed by the Maintenance Department Manager. May train and direct junior Bio-medical technicians.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
A. Perform safety testing, maintenance, repair and documentation on bio-medical patient care equipment; provide maintenance, repair and documentation on communications equipment; the fire detection and suppression systems and have the knowledge of and the ability to operate and maintain the facility's systems. Be able to communicate needs, new equipment and parts, to the supervisor. Do evaluations on existing and proposed equipment and provide recommendations to other departments.
B. Physical demands: A bio-medical technician must be able to perform all the staff functions of the maintenance department and therefore must be able to lift 85 pounds, stoop, kneel, crawl, stand, and walk for long periods, work on elevated equipment, climb ladders, and operate the facility's utility systems.
Qualifications
Possess a two year degree in Electronic Technology, or equivalent training and work experience.
Previous experience as a Bio-Medical technician desired.
Oregon State Restricted Energy or Limited Maintenance Electrician license required, or a willingness to acquire the license through a 4 year apprenticeship culminating with a passing grade on the State of Oregon RET/LEE/LME examination with continued maintenance of the license.
Must be able to take evening and weekend call on a rotating basis.
Must be able to read and understand equipment schematic diagrams, trouble-shoot equipment, identify defective parts/boards, provide accurate information to order the replacement parts, and perform the necessary repair operations.
Be well groomed and willing to comply with the hospital's policies and procedures.
Bilingual and/or English-Spanish speaking preferred.
Ability to work with culturally diverse population.
