Hourly Rate - Min: $22.93 Max: $35.12

Employee is responsible for ensuring the efficient flow in the daily operations, customer service on phones, appointment scheduling, pre-registration, collection of payments/co-payments, verifying insurance coverage, reminding patients of appointments, ensures referrals are available and prior authorizations have been completed for appointments, filing all paperwork into patient chart, correctly taking messages and ensuring their timely delivery, communicating with insurance companies to verify authorization for care and medical necessity information.
Responsibilities:
  • Collects patient demographic and insurance information then accurately keys this information into the electronic patient record systems.
  • Correctly schedules and/or cancels and/or reschedules all patient appointments for medical services.
  • Completes patient pre-registration, verifying insurance coverage, referral and medical record information is available in chart at time of appointment, provides verbal patient liability estimate and reminder of scheduled appointments as needed.
  • Correctly takes messages either by phone, ensuring all necessary information is gathered and documented following departmental guidelines. Also ensures that the messages are delivered in a timely manner.
  • Scans in patient insurance benefit, patient liability estimate, and authorization information into electronic health record daily.
  • Provides courteous and professional customer service via phone (within 3 rings), assisting patients and providers as needed.

3) Acquire and maintain a thorough knowledge of the Revenue Cycle.
4) Maximize resources by performing job duties in efficient and accurate manner.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Inside environment protected by weather. Occasionally subject to combative customers or verbal altercations with co-workers. Variable noise levels. Subject to rapid pace and/or unpredictable environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND TRAITS:

Must be able to:
1) Perceive the nature of sound by ear
2) Express or exchange ideas by means of spoken words
3) Use of hands, arms, and fingers
4) Stoop, kneel or crouch
5) Sit for extended periods of time
6) Assist patients in time of need
7) Work for times that may exceed 8 hours per day
8) Possible exposure to infection, contagious diseases, or chemicals used in hospital
cleaning
9) Depth perception is needed to observe the waiting area for intervention as
needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:

A. Education - High School Diploma preferred
B. Experience - Minimum of 2 years hospital experience preferred.
C. Bilingual and/or English-Spanish speaking preferred. Ability to work with culturally diverse population.

Salary : $23 - $35
