DEFINITION OF POSITION:
The Nursing Supervisor coordinates patient care activities for the respective shift. The Nursing Supervisor coordinates diagnostic procedures and/or surgeries outside of regular hours. The Nursing Supervisor Is responsible as the administrative representative and/or manager in the absence of the VP of Nursing. Needs a working knowledge of the medical/legal rules and regulations as they apply to the organization. Will be responsible for the overall direction of the nursing personnel. As well as, responsible to the VP of Nursing.

Working Conditions:
Inside environment, protected from the weather but not necessarily temperature changes. Subject at times to infection, contagious disease, and hazardous materials and equipment. May be subject to combative patients. Variable noise levels.
Physical Demands/Traits:
Must be able to 1) perceive the nature of sounds by ear; 2) express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word; 3) perceive characteristics of objects through the eyes; 4) extend arms and hands in any direction; 5) seize, hold, grasp, turn, or otherwise work with hands; 6) pick, pinch, or otherwise work with fingers; 7) perceive such attributes of objects or materials as size, shape, temperature, or texture; and 8) stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. Must be able to lift 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Continuous walking and standing. Must be able to identify, match, and distinguish colors. Rare lifting of greater than 100 pounds; 9) may need to be able to sit for long periods of time.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Required: Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. Evidence of continuing education appropriate for a nursing supervisor.
- Desired: BSN
Experience:
- Required: Previous supervisory or management experience.
- Desired: Previous nursing supervisor.
Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registrations:
- Current RN license in the State of Oregon; IV certification, ACLS, PALS, TNCC or Team Oregon, and NIMS training. CPI training.
Equipment/Tools/Work Aids:
- Computers, computer terminal, photo copier, patient charts, infusion pumps, PCA pumps, and other medical equipment.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
- Possesses knowledge of the scope and complexity of the patient’s age-specific, cultural, physical, and psychosocial well-being served by the hospital. Mathematical computational skills, able to communicate therapeutically. Self motivated, responsible, role model well organized.
Other:
- Bilingual and/or English-Spanish speaking preferred. Ability to work with culturally diverse population.
