ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Collects patient demographic and insurance information then accurately keys this information into Epic.
- Correctly schedules, cancels, or reschedules all patient referral appointments for the physician according to practice guidelines, either by phone or over the counter.
- Assists receptionist and helps to prepare charts for patient visit: verifying insurance coverage, referral and medical record information is available in chart at time of appointment and correct forms for documentation are available in chart.
- Scans documents into electronic charts and ensures the records are complete and up-to-date.
- Correctly takes messages either by phone or over counter, ensuring all necessary information is gathered and documented following practice guidelines and the messages are delivered in a timely manner.
- Documents appointment no-shows on the patient’s appointment in Epic if front staff are unable to do so.
- Assists all front office staff as needed and completes other duties as assigned by the Practice Manager.
- The office/clinic may be staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week, working extended evening hours and weekend hours. Situations may occur which will require an adjustment in hours worked and/or shift as the workload may dictate.
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS:
1) Education- High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
2) Other- Bilingual and/or English-Spanish speaking preferred. Have the ability to work with a culturally diverse population.
EQUIPMENT AND TOOLS:
1) Knowledge in computers, phones, and other office equipment.
2) Knowledge in insurance regulations and medical terminology.
3) Knowledge in filing procedures and record documentation.
4) Bilingual, English/Spanish, is preferred, for customer service interpretation duties.
