Definition of Position:
The Reporter gathers information and writes articles on federal, state, and regional news events and happenings.
Responsibilities:
Essential Job Functions:
- Gathers information and facts; develops stories; writes articles.
- Investigates, observes, and conducts interviews to gather information for articles.
- Reports on current events at the local, state, and/or federal level.
- Writes articles and headlines; prepares copy for publication.
- May take photographs or video footage of objects or places of significance.
- Posts articles to the website, social media and initiates regular eBlasts to subscriber list.
- Maintains content on the Northeast Oregon Now website.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in journalism, Communications, or related field required.
Experience: Two years of reporting experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to traverse various terrains to cover stories and conduct interviews.
Working Conditions:
Primarily inside environment, protected from the weather but not necessarily temperature changes. May be assigned stories that involve outside interviews/photography. Clean, well-lighted and ventilated work area. Variable noise levels.
Salary : $24 - $45
