Primary Function:
Works under the direction of the Director of Nursing or designee and in compliance with state statutes and regulations governing the practice of nursing. Incumbent provides staff supervision and direct hands on care to meet resident need in accordance with policy/procedures and physician orders.
Overview of Duties and Responsibilities:
Assesses, plans, coordinates and provides nursing care to skilled nursing and long-term care residents. Administers medications and treatments and provides direction and monitoring of medication aides and nursing assistants. Provides resident teaching and works closely with the interdisciplinary team and medical staff.
Qualifications:
Must be a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse, with a current nursing license from the State of Nebraska or a compact state recognized by the Nebraska Board of Nursing at the time of hire, and maintain the license in good standing throughout the course of employment.
Must be certified in basic life support/cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) or complete certification within the first month of employment. Must maintain certification throughout employment.
Experience in a skilled nursing or long-term care environment preferred.
Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the English language.
Overview of Physical Demands:
Work is typically indoors in a healthcare environment. Noise level is usually moderate, but may on occasion be loud
Must be able to lift, push and pull a minimum of 50 pounds. Physical abilities include extended periods of walking/standing and the ability to kneel, crouch and bend.
Must be able to deal with multiple interruptions. Work may be stressful when faced with multiple demands.
Must be able to talk and hear within normal ranges. Visual abilities must be correctable to normal ranges. Manual dexterity needed to operate equipment.
