Job Summary:
To plan, organize, direct, evaluate and implement Quality Improvement and Risk Management programs for Good Shepherd Lutheran Services. To work with Quality Council and Staff Development Coordinator to improve quality of care and quality of life. Monitor, evaluate and educate employees regarding Good Shepherd’s Infection Control Plan. Works with the Child Care Director on safety and infection control standards.

- Coordinates the development of a written Quality Improvement Plan.
- Establish or adopt criteria, monitors for indicators of compliance for each area of review.
- Develops an appropriate annual audit schedule (based on outcomes, quality indicators, statistical information, identified programs, Health Dept. visits etc.) that evaluates systems, procedures, programs, the physical plant/property, and environment, equipment use, documentation, care/service delivery etc.
- Completes or delegates completion of audits. Tracks audits to assure timely completion. Collects and evaluates audit data, quality indicator reports, incident reports and works with appropriate personnel to improve.
- Identifies problems, concerns, and noncompliance. Confirms problems by a detailed review to determine probable causes. Outcomes reviewed to determine whether interventions, policy changes, trainings are effective.
- Develop and maintain policies regarding Infection Control.
- Outbreak management: work with employees, Public Health to manage outbreaks within the facility. Ensure follow through of infection control standards as part of the safe and therapeutic environment.
- Patient Surveillance: monitoring patients for healthcare associated infections or high risk of contracting said infections and implementing isolation precautions.
- Coordinate immunization programs.
- Maintain and implement Infection control and Safety Standards in Child Care in conjunction with child care director.
- Coordination with local and national public health agencies.
Physical Demands:
- Sits, stands, stoops, lifts, and carry heavy items occasionally, bends, pushes, pulls and walks short distances during the day. Short emergency situations could require lifting and supporting 100 pounds or greater.
- Requires functional hearing ability to understand residents.
- Requires functional visual ability.
Qualifications:
A. Education/Other-
- Must be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED.
- Graduate of an accredited program in RN education.
- Current active RN licensure in the State of Minnesota.
- Clinical experience with geriatrics, long-term care, and/or rehabilitation desired, and healthcare service delivery desired.
- Management experience with strategic planning, service delivery and evaluation, creative problem solving and quality improvement desired.
- Position will be required to have Infection Preventionist training. Facility can provide training if needed.
