  • JOB SUMMARY
    • Enhances effectiveness of the Clinical and Operational Teams by providing inventory, maintenance and systems support to the Patient Care Units.
  • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    • ASSISTS CUSTOMERS
      • Prepares, stores and delivers safe, clean and/or sterile supplies and/or medical equipment for use.
      • Inspects condition of supplies and equipment received into CSR and takes steps to correct any deficiencies.
      • Delivers unit supplies and clean medical equipment to the nursing units per predetermined schedules and remove soiled equipment, instruments and accessories on a similar schedule.
      • Maintains proper par levels on the nursing units, on carts and trays, delivers equipment, supplies, and trays as appropriate.
    • HELPS MAINTAIN PROPER STOCK LEVELS
      • By verifying identifying information on packing lists.
      • Enters accurate figures into the computer software system.
      • Takes action to correct and advises the lead technician when stock seems to be incorrect, there is sudden change in usage, or stock is depleted.
      • Picks stock for routine and special orders using established methods taking care to correct any deficiencies.
      • Counts unit supply locations, exchange carts, trays etcetera with an attention to detail and in accordance with established methods.
      • Updates forms in MMIS as appropriate based upon usage, paying careful attention to labeling updates for supply locations of any type.
      • Schedules and / or performs cycle counts and physical inventory counts on a scheduled basis as defined by management.
      • When stocking shelves rotates stock in accordance with established procedure and best practices of the Central Supply Services profession.
      • Tracks materials and supplies which are borrowed, purchased or lent to the Host Hospital or other partners.
    • MAINTAINS MEDICAL EQUIPMENT INVENTORY
      • Follows manufacturer’s and/or distributor’s instructions for cleaning devices and equipment.
      • Cleans and tests all manner of medical equipment, contacts biomedical services, when appropriate, to correct deficiencies.
      • Cleans soiled medical equipment in accordance with internal policy, best practices of the profession and the requirements of the Pennsylvania Department of Health, the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitative, Facilities,  the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations or any other interested  regulatory agency.
      • Records the use, cleaning and disposition of medical equipment and conveys appropriate messages to the biomedical engineering services.
      • Coordinates the physical return of any device, equipment, or product that has been recalled from use and not working.
    • MONITORS AND TRACKS RENTAL EQUIPMENT IN COORDINATION WITH UNIT PRACTICES
      • In conjunction with established unit practices, acts as an additional resource to support the processes noted below:
        • Records the issue and return of all rental equipment by vendor
        • Documents rental and usage by patient and room number.
        • Coordinates the installation and removal of equipment to and from the Nursing unit as needed.
        • Communicates to the vendor and/or purchasing the pertinent information regarding the rental.
    • RESPONSIBLE FOR DATE SENSITIVE INVENTORY
      • Assures freshness of date sensitive materials and supplies.
      • Properly rotates inventory to assure that old product is used before new product to maintain cost effectiveness.
      • Update Item Master in MMIS to reflect changes in expiration status on a periodic basis.
      • Checks expiration dates monthly and disposes of any product found within 30 days of its expiration date.
    • ASSISTS IN MONITORING SUPPLY CHAIN COSTS
      • Enters accurate data into the Materials Management Information System.
      • Corrects any deficiencies in data entry that may arise by crediting, issuing and adjusting stock as needed.
      • Communicates any pertinent information to the Lead Central Services Technician, as appropriate.
    • ORGANIZES EQUIPMENT AND BUILDING MAINTANENCE PROCESS
      • Responsible for coordinating with Network and/or Host Hospital Biomedical Department to maintain preventative maintenance schedules.
      • Coordinates engineering requests based on contractual responsibilities with Network and/or Host Hospital.
    • COORDINATES NEW PRODUCT REQUESTS
      • Assists clinical staff with coordinating evaluations and researching new product requests.
      • Acts as a local liaison between Materials Management and clinical customers with regard to the Materials Management and Product Evaluation and Standardization Committee policies and processes.
      • Helps to identify substitute products for quality, effectiveness, and cost.
    • PROTECTS SELF, CO-WORKERS, AND PATIENTS
      • By interpreting and implementing policies and procedures to prevent the spread of blood borne and/or airborne diseases.
      • By adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, and equipment cleaning and storage procedures.
    • CONTRIBUTES TO TEAM EFFORT
      • By accomplishing related results as needed
      • Follows through on delegated tasks.
      • By responding to coworkers requests for assistance.
      • By providing scheduling and assignment flexibility in order to support the activities of the department in other locations as necessary.
      • Acting as a resource and / or leader when the need arises.  Serves as a valuable resource for P/I initiatives.
      • By recognizing the relationship of the supply role to the essential well being of the patients and taking all necessary steps to ensure that the caregivers have the appropriate supplies available to provide for the patients’ needs.
    • RECEIVES SUPPLIES
      • Receives supplies from vendors and or primary inventories into stock for inventory locations.
      • Unloads incoming shipments, comparing package counts with Bills of Lading, signing Bill of Lading noting any damages or shortages.
      • Staging shipment in a convenient area for detailed check-in which includes comparing Packing List to actual goods received and noting all discrepancies on Packing List for further action.
      • Entering receiving information from the Packing Slip into the Receiving application of the MMIS system.
      • Filing Packing List in a completed entry bin for the period of one week.
      • Matching Receiving Documents to actual goods and sorting for internal delivery.
    • PROVIDE EDUCATION OF PRODUCT LINES AND SUPPLY CHAIN
      • Provides education to staff about new product lines including functionality, par levels and restocking procedures.
      • Provides education to new staff as to location of supplies, functionality of equipment, and off-hours procedures and policies with respects to the Supply Chain operations.
    • MAINTAINS OPERATIONS
      • Performs all tasks in accordance with internal policy, the requirements of the Pennsylvania Department of Health, the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitative Facilities, the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations or any other interested regulatory agency.
      • Reports suggestions for changes in workflow, policy or procedure to Director of Supply Chain for consideration.

      • Education
        • High School Diploma required
      • Work Experience
        • 2-4 years in a similar setting required
      • Licenses / Certifications
        • Basic Life Support / CPR, as a healthcare provider, per the American Heart Association required
