Good Transport Services is seeking qualified applicants for its Heavy Duty Diesel Technician position, based out of Columbia, PA. Family-owned and operated, we’ve been in business for over 80 years. The regular schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM. This position is 50 hours/week.
Position Overview:
The Heavy Duty Diesel Technician is responsible for performing repair and maintenance work on both the internal company fleet, and external customer vehicles, including both diesel and non-diesel trucks. Essential functions of the role include:
- Diagnose, rebuild, and repair vehicles (including electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical repairs)
- Perform inspections and preventative maintenance of vehicles, as well as conduct routine service on heavy-duty vehicles
- Effectively operate machinery, including, but not limited to: forklift, tire changer, overhead crane, various pneumatic tools, alignment machine, welders, and plasma cutter
- Maintain a safe environment for self and team members
- Serve in a rotating on-call schedule with all technicians
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of 2 years relevant experience
- Valid Driver’s License at a minimum; willingness to obtain valid Class A CDL and DOT PA Class 7 Inspection License during the course of employment
- Ability to perform general equipment maintenance and repairs
- Must have own tools (Shop does provide larger tools to aid in repairs)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Post-secondary certificate or formal technician training
- Valid Class A CDL and DOT PA Class 7 Inspection License
- Welding and hydraulic experience
- Paint and body work experience
- Computer skills
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
