Role Overview
We are seeking a highly capable Director of Asset Management to oversee a national portfolio of solar and BESS assets.
This role will lead the strategy and execution of asset operations, performance optimization, contract management, and stakeholder reporting. The successful candidate will bring deep experience in technical and financial asset management, strong third-party oversight skills, and a hands-on approach to value creation.
You will work closely with investment, engineering, legal, and operations teams to oversee contracts, operations, maintenance, performance analytics, optimization, and reporting for a diverse portfolio, which includes solar energy systems, battery storage, Electric Vehicle charging and potentially other areas as the portfolio grows.
The ideal candidate will have had several years of experience directly responsible for asset operations, while looking to grow professionally and build out a team to manage our growing portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee full asset lifecycle management for distributed solar and storage projects across key US markets (small utility, community solar and onsite C&I)
- Own the execution and optimization of all third-party agreements, including O&M, asset management, interconnection, and other service contracts
- Monitor and drive performance KPIs, proactively addressing underperformance, technical issues, and operational risks
- Lead internal and external reporting on asset health, financial outcomes, and compliance, ensuring clear communication with investors and stakeholders
- Manage vendor relationships across operations, engineering, asset management, and field services -- driving accountability and cost-effective performance
- Support operational due diligence and onboarding for new acquisitions or development assets entering the portfolio
- Ensure rigorous compliance with safety, regulatory, environmental, and data standards across all operating assets
- Coordinate closely with finance, legal, and construction teams on tax equity requirements, refinancing, and project lifecycle deliverables
Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in clean energy or power asset management, with direct oversight of operating renewable energy portfolios
- Strong understanding of technical asset management, O&M strategy, financial reporting, and third-party contract negotiation
- Track record of improving operational performance and optimizing commercial value in renewable energy portfolios
- Engineering background and/or advanced degree (MBA or similar) a plus
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and stakeholders
