What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Control Inspector position at Goodhart Sons, Inc?
Responsibilities:
The Quality Control Inspector has the following responsibilities and duties:
- Conduct dimensional layout verification and inspections of fabricated components.
- Read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
- Performing Visual Welding Inspection, Liquid Penetrant Testing (LPT), and Magnetic Particle Testing (MT).
- Inspect surface finishes and coatings to ensure compliance with project specifications.
- Oversee welder qualifications and ensure compliance with welding procedures
- Interface with Project Managers, Detailers, and Customers to address quality concerns and ensure project specifications are met.
- Document inspection results using written records and computer-based forms, spreadsheets, and reports (MS Word and Excel required).
- Ensure compliance with AWS, ASME, and other industry quality standards.
- Identify and document non-conformances, assisting in corrective action processes.
- Provide feedback and guidance to fabricators to improve product quality.
- Some travel required, to job sites for inspection.
The Quality Control Inspector should have the following skills, education, and experience:
- 5 years of experience as a fitter/fabricator or in a related quality inspection role.
- Strong knowledge of welding processes, blueprint reading, and measuring equipment.
- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) preferred or willingness to obtain certification.
- Experience with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and communication abilities.
