About The Role

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Technician at Goodkind plays a vital role in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing critical production machinery across various departments. They support the engineering and production teams, ensuring seamless operations and contributing to the company's growth.

What You'll Do

• Oversee plant wide PLC system maintenance and upgrades
• Design, program, repair and maintain the sites electrical, control, network, HMI and PLC systems
• Diagnoses compounding, filling, packaging and auxiliary equipment related error conditions occurring at the production site and warehouse and repairs appropriately
• Diagnostics, Inspection and optimization of equipment, including maintenance of PLC systems
• Communicate with manufacturers on the design and costing of new or replacement equipment
• Monitor and progress particular projects from design stage to commissioning
• Assist at plant level in carrying out trials for product and/or process development
• Responsible for the troubleshooting of PLC’s related to safety, automation, and control systems.
• Conduct preventive maintenance, testing and troubleshooting of VFD’s (Variable Frequency Drives)
• Provide support to the Engineering department on new installations of electronic control equipment.
• Assist other maintenance technicians as needed in troubleshooting of plant equipment, machinery, utilities, and safety systems.
• Assist management in root-cause analysis on losses related to electrical/electronic failures.
• To closely work with the other Maintenance department crafts to support initiatives that improve equipment reliability.
• Manage electrical and mechanical parts inventory per the CMMS and Asset Management protocols
• Participation and completion of required Environmental, Health and Safety training. Responsible for performing SMAT observations and other audit programs, cleaning, painting, and maintaining the 5S system.
• Ensure adherence to waste management and recycling responsibilities.
• Participate in Incident & Near Miss Investigations to determine root cause and corrective actions.
• Participate in the development, understanding and review of related Job Safety Analysis and/or Standard Operating Procedures.
• Communicates and logs daily activities to oncoming shifts to verify effective handoff of information.
• Participate in Maintenance driven projects (i.e., small-scale electrical, MOC)
• Perform various administrative tasks which include, but are not limited to, email correspondence, purchase requisitions, completion of expenses reports, and invoice verification
• Further develop the skill set of crew electricians.
• Perform Training Activities (i.e., LOTO training, electrical tech training, and PLC training
• Train the machine operators on Autonomous Maintenance, Equipment Set-Up to engage and improve skills
• Travelling may be required (up to 10%) for learning purposes as well as supporting the off-site warehouse. After the site is complete, significantly less travel may be required.

• Subject Matter Expert: Coming to Goodkind Co. with experience along with a willingness to learn, you will develop a large "tool-belt" of industrial maintenance skills and experience, you will be an epicenter of knowledge in motors, vision systems, filling & packaging equipment, and more! As you develop into an SME, you will start to navigate complex mechanical challenges, identify the root causes of issues, and provide the right solutions. You have a wide breadth of technical knowledge that you continue to add to, and you’re not afraid to ask for help.
• Production Line Support: Machinery acting up? No problem! You will have diagnosed issues quickly and correctly using root-cause analysis and will have helped create a scalable system for ordering and maintaining the right stock of supplies for maintenance activities. With a good pulse on the needs of production, you will have effectively prioritized and completed work orders for Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, and special projects. Line calls are answered with a high level of urgency, and equipment issues have been thoroughly & accurately resolved to support our production needs—our machines consistently purr with happiness!
• Autonomous Maintenance: Vital to supporting our growth, you will begin helping to develop a true living-breathing- autonomous maintenance culture. You continually strengthen our manufacturing team members’ skills on light maintenance activities, including running line changeovers, completing basic operational PMs, regular inspection & monitoring, and understanding the sequence of operations for our production equipment. Additionally, you will have mastered how to operate each piece of our production equipment and when help is needed, you jump right in! Training materials are revised and created with your assistance.
• Continuous Improvement: Status quo, heck no! As an innovative thinker, you have a constant focus on building robust processes and making incremental improvements for sustainable changes. Supporting strategic preventative maintenance activities for each piece of equipment on your assigned line is a conscious priority, but never at the expense of daily production needs. Production lines are running well and important metrics such PM completion %, open work order status, % on time PMs, line up time, etc. are meeting line efficiency objectives. You will have updated PMs for relevance and frequency, and you will support special projects focused on continually improving our manufacturing operations. Through your day to day work you actively using continuous improvement principles (AM, 5S, RCAs) to move the business forward
  
  

Qualifications

• 2 years of maintenance experience, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
• Familiarity with machinery for automated filling, conveyors, and rotary fillers.
• Strong technical and operational knowledge of mechanical, electrical and electronic equipment and systems. Strong aptitude for repair and maintenance activities.
• Ability to read and interpret CAD layouts, illustrated parts breakdown (IPB) diagrams, and electrical circuitry diagrams and drawings.
• Ability to diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical issues. Issues may include the testing, replacement or repair electrical systems including three phase or single phase electrical systems up to 600volts, AC or DC motors, power supplies, frequency drives, servo drives, transformers, motor starters, proximity sensors, encoders, photo eyes, programmable logic controllers (PLC), HMI’s, PLC Inputs/Outputs.
• Ability to test equipment and instrumentation systems including electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, refrigeration, and water treatment chemicals.
• Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) preferred. Ability to read electrical schematic, wiring diagrams, and PLC ladder and block logic. Ability to load programs or configure PLC’s, HMI, scanners
• Ability to program basic changes to PLC controllers including modifying timing, adding alarms and logic for additional inputs or outputs. Ability to properly wire additional devices to PLC’s and other controllers.
