Position Summary: The Greenhouse Maintenance Technician at Goodness Gardens is responsible for maintaining and repairing all technical and mechanical systems within the greenhouse environment. This role demands a versatile skill set, including expertise in plumbing, electrical systems, pneumatics, mechanical repairs, machinery operation, structural upkeep, and groundskeeping. Your work directly contributes to the efficient operation of the greenhouse and supports optimal crop health and productivity.
What You Will Do:
- Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on greenhouse-specific equipment, such as irrigation systems, seeding equipment, growing platforms, conveyors, sensors, environmental control systems, and automated machinery.
- Troubleshoot and repair plumbing systems, ensuring efficient irrigation and water supply, promptly addressing leaks or water-related issues.
- Perform electrical maintenance and repairs on greenhouse lighting, control panels, sensors, wiring, and related electrical infrastructure.
- Maintain and repair pneumatic systems critical to automated greenhouse functions, quickly addressing issues to minimize downtime.
- Regularly inspect, maintain, and service ventilation systems, fans, heating, and cooling equipment to ensure optimal environmental conditions for plant growth.
- Calibrate, test, and maintain environmental monitoring sensors to guarantee accuracy and reliability.
- Handle groundskeeping duties, including mowing, trimming, and general upkeep of the greenhouse perimeter and surrounding areas.
- Perform structural repairs, painting, and general facility maintenance tasks, maintaining a clean and safe environment.
- Document maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs meticulously, maintaining accurate records.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols, ensuring maintenance tasks do not disrupt greenhouse operations or compromise plant health.
- Proactively identify opportunities for preventive maintenance and system improvements, recommending actionable solutions.
What You Bring:
- Proven experience as a maintenance technician, ideally within a greenhouse, agricultural, or horticultural setting.
- Comprehensive hands-on knowledge in machinery, plumbing, electrical systems, pneumatics, and mechanical equipment.
- Proficiency in maintaining greenhouse-specific systems, including automated seeding and growing equipment, ventilation, irrigation, and environmental control technologies.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving capabilities, able to troubleshoot complex technical and mechanical issues.
- Skilled operation of groundskeeping equipment, along with basic carpentry, painting, and structural maintenance expertise.
- Excellent attention to detail, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, safety, and functionality.
- Strong communication skills, capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
Physical capability to perform manual labor tasks and comfort working in varied greenhouse conditions.
