Job Summary:
The Collections Specialist is responsible for providing exceptional customer service to patients, managing account resolutions, and handling billing and insurance-related tasks. This role involves interacting with multiple stakeholders, ensuring accuracy, and working efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Functions:
- Provide outstanding customer service to patients, addressing inquiries and concerns.
- Assist with account resolution by communicating account information, updating insurance details, offering solutions, and setting up payment arrangements.
- Handle a high volume of inbound and outbound calls related to billing and collections.
- Collaborate with internal team members and departments to manage billing and insurance queries.
- Run various reports to track and work on pending and aged claims.
- Verify claim denials daily and process corrections for resubmission.
- Assist with batch payments, scanning, and attaching necessary documents.
- Post self-pay, co-pays, deductibles, and/or coinsurance payments as applicable.
- Support the team with additional tasks as needed.
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Strong understanding of medical terminology.
- Expertise in multiple billing types, including patient billing, insurance, and other invoicing.
- Exceptional attention to detail in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Ability to analyze problems, define challenges, and proactively suggest solutions.
- Capable of performing repetitive tasks with accuracy.
- Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining high accuracy under pressure.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills for maintaining relationships with internal teams, third-party payors, patients, and other representatives.
- Proficient in managing data from multiple sources.
- Personal traits of professionalism, accountability, innovation, and commitment to high standards.
- Competency in Microsoft Office 365.
Education & Experience:
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred:
- 3 years of experience in billing/collections.
