Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals with disabilities, helping them lead fulfilling lives while promoting their independence and dignity. You will work closely with clients in various settings, including group homes and assisted living facilities, ensuring their needs are met in accordance with established care plans.
Duties
- Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client's needs and preferences.
- Support clients in social and recreational activities to enhance their quality of life.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for residents while respecting their rights and privacy.
- Document client progress and any changes in behavior or condition as required by HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including nurses, to ensure comprehensive care is provided.
- Advocate for the rights of residents and promote their autonomy within the community.
- Participate in training sessions related to long-term care practices and working with individuals on the autism spectrum.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in direct support roles such as home health aide, group home staff, or similar positions is preferred.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and resident rights is essential.
- Familiarity with care plans and the ability to follow them accurately.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a genuine desire to work with individuals with disabilities.
- Ability to maintain cleanliness and organization within living spaces.
- A background in nursing or long-term care is a plus but not required.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
