JOB SUMMARY
Maintain material flow through Ready-to-Wear or Wares by moving containers and/or product to designated areas.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Receive, move and place carts, racks and totes containing donated goods product in designated areas to facilitate the processing and distribution of goods.
SECONDARY DUTIES
Perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
EDUCATION REQUIRED: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRD: None.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: None. All aspects of the job may be learned on-the-job.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED: Basic math ability. Material handling techniques and use of material handling equipment desirable (this may be learned on-the-job)
Familiarity with Goodwill Central Coast’s mission, general Company policies and procedures (this may be learned on-the-job).
EQUIPMENT USED: Typical material handling equipment.
SKILLS/APTITUDES/TEMPERAMENTS:
Ability to communicate in basic oral and written English (depending on location, ability to communicate in basic Spanish may be desirable and/or acceptable).
Ability to coordinate eye/hand/foot movement to safely maneuver/handle equipment, walk up/down ramps and lift/stack donations.
Ability to perform routine work, adapting to change as it relates to work flow without loss of efficiency.
Ability to understand and accept directions and follow procedures.
Ability to maintain self-control and work in cooperation with co-workers.
Ability to demonstrate satisfactory attendance as outlined in Company policy.
Ability to adhere to safe work practices as documented in Company policies; ability to report safety hazards/accidents promptly to supervisor or safety committee member.
EMOTIONAL EFFORT:
The work is routine with occasional periods of high activity/demand requiring little or no overtime to complete the work.
JOB SETTING
Work is performed in a large enclosed warehouse. The area is heated and has some natural ventilation. The temperature will fluctuate depending on location within the department. Textile dust and dirt is prevalent due to the volume of goods processed. Dust and dirt is controlled by daily cleaning of work area. Some materials handled may be soiled. Work is completed independently but in cooperation with whole department. There is no contact with the public. The noise volume is moderately high throughout the day depending on the amount of activity, equipment in operation and radio operation. Material handling equipment (forklift, hand truck, movable containers/racks) and trucks may be operated in or near work area. PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The job requires consistent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Heavier items (51 lbs. or more) will be moved either with assistance from another person or by using appropriate material handling equipment.
Normal or corrected talking, hearing, and seeing abilities are sufficient to perform required tasks.
Mobility required to walk up/down ramps and walk on uneven ground.
