What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clothing Sorter and Processor position at Goodwill - Crystal Lake, IL?
Availability: Weekends
Responsible for all duties as assigned by the Store Manager, including sorting textiles (soft goods, clothing, bedding, linens), examining product for condition, and ensuring the best highest quality textiles are put on the sales floor.
Responsibilities & Essential Functions:
Product Knowledge
- Processes textiles (clothing, linens, bedding). This includes sorting based on store criteria minimizing trash and salvaging while focusing on quality.
- Identifies items that are priced by management, i.e. high value or unique items. Utilize computer to price items of value to price accordingly.
Time Management
- Maintains productivity as demonstrated by meeting minimum production numbers as established and communicated by management.
- Tracks and records number of pieces processed.
Safety
- Uses tagging gun to appropriately tag all pieces.
- Consistently follows established safety rules. Reports safety accidents and hazards when known and in a timely manner. Maintains a safe, clean, and orderly work area. Utilizes the proper equipment and supplies in meeting the safety standards.
Other
- Responsive and respectful towards others within the organization. Promotes internal and external customer service through effective communication. Displays appropriate behavior (courteous and respectful interactions) with fellow employees.
- Follows established processes according to Kaizen standards.
- Maintains workstation supplies.
- Completes work station 5 minute clean up daily.
- Demonstrates regard for Goodwill’s assets including property, and equipment.

Qualifications & Basic Job Requirements:
- A high school degree (or its equivalent) is desirable, though an equivalent amount of training and experience will be considered in lieu of this requirement.
- Ability to count, add, and subtract.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
- Ability to follow all safety rules.
- Must be able to operate a tagging gun.
Compensation: $16.00 - $18.50/hour
