SummarySupports the strategic goals of Goodwill Easterseals Miami Valley (GESMV) and leads external communication efforts by managing traditional and social media initiatives, community events, and coordinating marketing and public relations initiatives to accomplish the overall mission; Serves as the agency spokesperson; Develops and implements agency communication plan; Supervises the Public Relations Assistant and Reception Supervisor; Supports internal communications and customer service initiative.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Develop and implement strategic communication plans that support the Agency goals and objectives, driven by mission of GESMV
Participate in Agency strategic and annual planning and work to achieve strategic initiatives within specified time frames
Manage traditional media efforts for the Agency:
Write and continuously modify the public relations/media pitch plan
Write and strategically distribute press releases
Create relationships with all local media outlet representatives and pitch story ideas on a regular basis
Manage the unpaid media tracking report
Act as spokesperson for GESMV with the media, as assigned
Provide guidance and preparation for other Agency staff to serve as spokespersons
Be on-call 24/7 for any Agency/media-related emergency
Train and assist other GESMV staff who may be speaking with the media
Read all pertinent local print publications
Monitor all local electronic media outlets
Follow pertinent national PR publications
Regularly scan GII & Easterseals websites to stay abreast of important issues
Implement all social media efforts for the Agency:
Manage, edit and post all Agency blogs
Monitor, analyze, post and engage in conversations on behalf of the Agency (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Youtube, X, Pinterest, and others)
Respond to all “contact us” inquiries to the Agency via GESMV.org
Work with marketing team to ensure agency brochures, fliers, annual report, etc. are created, written, edited and distributed by all stated deadlines
Manage Agency special events, monitor event budgets and provide after-event analysis with recommendations for improvements:
GESMV Annual Awards Celebration
Open Houses
Grand openings/ribbon cuttings
Donation drives and initiatives
Press conferences
Supervise Public Relations Assistant and Social Media Content producer
Support Human Resources’ efforts with recruitment by updating materials and promoting hiring events
Participate in other department, division and Agency activities and committees and propose ideas for continual improvement
Continually develop skills through independent study, professional development and educational experiences including participation in professional organizations
Comply with all Agency policies, procedures and safety standards throughout work areas and maintain same to meet CARF, Department of Labor and other regulatory standards.
Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis position carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Education RequirementsBachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism or Public Relations
Experience Requirements
Three to five years public relations, social media and marketing experience with proven track record of success
Successful management of complex projects and initiatives Supervisory experience, three to five years preferred
Professional appearance and experience representing Agency in front of audiences (live and on camera)
Must be able to work effectively with people with diverse backgrounds and abilities

Ability to create and manage budgets and be a good steward of Agency resources.
