Must be 21 years of age or older Must be able to pass an extensive FBI Background Check Must be willing to drive a wheelchair accessible van, minibus or transit vehicle for up to 12 passengers This position works a split shift of morning and afternoon hours Monday-Friday. No weekends required. $750 Sign-On Bonus (Restrictions Apply)   Summary The function of this position is to provide transportation to the participants within Goodwill Easterseals Miami Valley service areas.  Assistance, as directed, within the program areas and route development is a major function of this position. Maintain the policies and procedures of GESMV. Essential Duties & Responsibilities  Transport participants in agency vehicle to and from program services and job sites, as scheduled, providing door-to-door assistance. Ensure appropriate safety measures while driving GESMV vehicles. Maintain safe, secure and clean physical environment (e.g. seat belts fastened, wheelchairs secured, vans washed and swept).  Review and follow all individual service plans as written for individuals transported. Observe participants for abuse and neglect, as well as, communicable disease and their general emotional, mental and physical condition. Report all concerns or incidents to the Program Coordinator or the Immediate Supervisor and complete required agency incident report. Incident report may also be required to be sent to funder according to funding rules and regulations. Accurately record daily mileage, drop off and pick up times and participants’ attendance.  Must electronically submit all documentation to supervisor through the designated billing system concerning client contact, route sheets and other required billing documentation on a daily/weekly basis.  Must maintain efficient routes and schedules for pick up and drop offs. Must provide effective communication regarding changes to route to supervisor and/or participant being transported.  Conduct and document daily and monthly safety vehicle inspections and report needed repairs to Immediate Supervisor. Must be responsible for refueling, checking oil and fluids of the vehicle each day. Attend staff meetings, in-services and other meetings as assigned. Complete all required annual and monthly trainings as assigned. Provide courteous and professional service at all times. Must follow scheduled route, with no unauthorized or personal stops. Must have reliable transportation to get to and from work.  Must be available to travel to assist other agency programs.  Adhere to Ohio Safety Laws at all times. Complete specific training in transferring and lifting of target population. Training provided in emergency procedures.  Maintain a valid driver’s license with 4 points or less on license at all times. Comply with all Agency policies, procedures and safety standards throughout work areas and maintain same to meet CARF, Department of Labor and other regulatory standards. All other duties as assigned by Program Coordinator and/or Immediate Supervisor. Supervisory Responsibilities   None  Education Requirements  High School Diploma or a GED.  Experience Requirements  At least 1 year experience transporting the target population.    Qualifications  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must maintain the ability to pass a criminal background check and random drug screens.  Skills & Abilities    GENERAL: Demonstrate initiative. The ability to work cohesively within a team. Knowledge of the city and surrounding communities and the ability to navigate safely while driving.  Ability to show care, warmth, and patience to the target population.  Must be able to follow through with assigned expectations and responsibilities in a timely manner. Acceptance of GESMV’s Mission and Purpose.    LANGUAGE: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, general business instructions, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.   Ability to write business correspondence and routing reports.  Ability to utilize technology.  Ability to speak effectively with staff, program participants and the general public    REASONING: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with daily operational challenges with a calm demeanor.
