Description
To assist in the smooth operation of the salvage outlet and present a positive image of Goodwill to the community. The Assistant Manager is responsible for the supervision of all store personnel. Position reports to the Salvage Outlet Manager and is evaluated annually.
Qualifications
- Knows and understands the Goodwill Mission: Strengthen communities by empowering individuals and families through education, training and job placement.
- Cashiering:
- Accurately count money and make change.
- Accurately ring register being aware of proper pricing.
- Know Visa and MasterCard procedures, all forms of payment and discounts including Goody Bucks, Good Points and MGB.
- Communicate specials to customers.
- Acknowledge all customers and contributors in a helpful & friendly manner.
- Refer customers to management as warranted.
- Watch for shoplifting and for non-store people in unauthorized areas.
- Maintain safe working and shopping environment.
- Ask every paying customer if they would like to Round Up (their change goes to support our Mission).
- Know how to properly use the overhead paging system and be able to make promotional announcement.
- Work Force Supervision:
- Assist in the supervision of all store employees in a daily basis.
- Coach, discipline, and review employees.
- Assist in training and developing store employees and clients.
- Be an example setter for all other employees.
- Follow the dress code and wear designated Identification as provided.
- Hold daily meeting with employees to set daily goals and objectives.
- Outlet Procedures Supervision:
- Assist in the handling of donations.
- Assist in quoting prices for furniture and other large items.
- Assist with tipping and loading of tables.
- Supervise and assist in the rotation of tables.
- Work to reduce internal theft and shoplifting.
- Assist in ensuring trailers are loaded in a timely and proper fashion.
- Administrative and Clerical Operations:
- Administer company policies and procedures.
- Assist in the supervision and use of the Smart Safe.
- Handle refunds.
- Handle customer complaints.
- Maintain records of store as required.
- Needs to be knowledgeable on how to utilize SharePoint.
- Attend meetings as required.
- Security and Safety:
- Assist in maintaining safety and security of the premises and merchandise.
- Assist in controlling pilferage and preventing burglary.
- Do bag checks anytime an employee leaves the building.
- Assist in eliminating fire hazards and unsafe conditions.
- Assist in conducting emergency drills and instructing workers in fire prevention and safety procedures.
- Maintain safe working and shopping environment.
- Fill in as needed to cover schedule in the absence of other store employees.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
