Description
Job Objective:
To provide exceptional customer service to all Goodwill customers while helping to maintain cleanliness of the Salvage Outlet sales floor and present a positive image of Goodwill to the community. This position reports directly to the Salvage Outlet Manager and Transportation Supervisor.
Qualifications
Essential Job Functions:
- Knows and understands the Goodwill Mission: Strengthen communities by empowering individuals and families through education, training and job placement.
- Cashiering:
- Accurately count money and make change.
- Accurately ring register being aware of proper pricing.
- Know Visa and MasterCard procedures, all forms of payment and discounts including Goody Bucks, Good Points and MGB.
- Alert management regarding altered tickets.
- Communicate specials to customers.
- Acknowledge all customers and contributors in a helpful & friendly manner.
- Refer customers to management as warranted.
- Watch for shoplifting, for ticket switching and for non-store people in unauthorized areas.
- Maintain safe working and shopping environment.
- Ask every paying customer if they would like to Round Up (their change goes to support our Mission)
- Know how to properly use the overhead paging system and be able to make promotional announcements.
- Keep furniture and electrical area in store clean and well organized.
- Maintain shop-ability and good store appearance.
- Production:
- Safely move tables to and from the sales floor in a timely manner.
- Empty trash into compactor as needed.
- Move material as required using a pallet jack or dolly.
- Sort material from gaylords, poly carts, tables and cages as required for warehousing.
- Accurately prepare and process salvage materials for shipment.
- Maintain general good housekeeping and cleanliness of warehouse as required.
- Remove outdated stock in a timely manner.
- Maintain Kaizen standards.
- Attend the Donation Drive Thru:
- Answer the door as soon as the buzzer rings and politely greet the donor.
- Promptly unload donations for donor.
- Be able to refuse unacceptable items politely.
- Keep a tally of Drive-Thru customers.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Must be well groomed and personable.
- Ability to read, write and do simple math functions.
- Ability to make quick correct decisions.
- Ability to deal with the public and co-workers in a tactful manner.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule.
- Must have effective communication skills.
- Ability to follow standard retail practices.
- Follow the dress code and wear designated identification as provided.
