MISSION CONTRIBUTION:
To ensure the efficient and cost-effective operation of the GGC through the security of corporate assets, customer relations, sale of donated goods, and accurate cash register operations, to maximize profitability and increase training opportunities.
SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of TLC, this is a non-exempt leadership role. The primary responsibilities of the Apparel Lead are to ensure world-class customer service while supporting the development of the apparel processing team, quality control/selection and pricing of apparel donations, and ensuring that the apparel department on the sales floor is full and fresh.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Ensures and provides open and honest communication that encourages all team members not to place themselves, donors, or customers in harm’s way
- Communicates and supports Goodwill’s drug-free workplace, strives for and maintains a positive work environment following Goodwill’s Core Values and Guiding Principles
- Understands represents Goodwill’s zero tolerance for harassment, substance abuse, workplace violence, failure to report medical incidents (work or non-work related), and theft or other related offenses
- Provides 100% world-class customer service. Ensures customers are greeted and acknowledged within 10 seconds and that their questions and concerns are addressed immediately in a timely and polite manner.
- Recognizes apparel brand names, trends, designer labels, current and vintage styles, knowledgeable on pricing and grade quality of apparel.
- Maintains accurate Production meeting expected minimum goals of 3 racks per hour.
- Maintains accurate reports on hang counts from Sorter/Hangers with the goal of 67 pieces hung/hour.
- Supports goal setting, coaching, training, and works side-by-side apparel team members to maximize productivity.
- Maintains Production station and apparel work area in a neat, clean and safe condition at all times.
- Assists as needed in the movement of apparel material movement equipment.
- May assist with floor running, apparel rotation, and cleaning dressing rooms as needed.

- Material handling equipment is for moving donations, not storage.

- Profits should increase.
- Adheres to all GGC and personnel policies with a high degree of integrity; follows good safety practices, including reporting safety hazards and injuries to the Team Leader Coach and/or ATL in charge.
- Maintains GGC security, related to theft or pilferage and handling of cash receipts, according to the organization and GGC’s policies, procedures, guiding principles and core values.
- May be asked to participate in activities outside of Goodwill.
- Attends in-service-related training as assigned by Team Leader Coach.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Team Leader Coach.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
- Prior experience in a retail environment preferred.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationship with team leader, team members, customers, and donors.
- Ability to maintain a positive, friendly attitude and a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance
- Computer and organizational skills required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Able to bend, reach and stand for extensive periods of time and lift up to forty (40) pounds. May be required to lift heavier goods/items with the assistance of another team member.
- Able to perform tasks that require repetitive motion, i.e., tagging or hanging clothes. Manual dexterity is required.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be willing and able to work evenings and weekends.
